COVID-19 - JobKeeper Update

The Government announced that the JobKeeper is being extended by another six months, due to expire in March 2021.
Payment rates are also set to reduce over the six month period, and lower payment rates will apply to those who ordinarily worked 20 hours or less.

This extension is being targeted towards employers who continue to be significantly impacted by COVID-19 and importantly does not affect your JobKeeper eligibility till 27 September 2020.

Eligibility for extension periods:

  • To be eligible for the first extension period, businesses must display a significant fall in actual GST turnover in both the June 2020 and September 2020 quarters, relative to comparable periods
  • To be eligible for the second extension period, businesses must display a significant fall in actual GST turnover in each of the June 2020, September 2020 and December 2020 quarters, relative to comparable periods

Employee and business participant eligibility remains unchanged at this point in time.

JobKeeper payment rates will be as follows:
From 28 September 2020 to 2 January 2021

  • $1,200 for those who worked more than 20 hours per week on average (for the four weeks prior to 1 March 2020)
  • $750 for other eligible employees and business participants

From 4 January 2021 to 28 March 2021

  • $1,000 for those who worked more than 20 hours per week on average (for the four weeks prior to 1 March 2020)
  • $650 for other eligible employees and business participants
